I was delighted to be invited to undertake a residency with Grove Projects in Bury St Edmunds. During the week-long residency I researched the role of sugar production in and around Bury St Edmunds and visited British Sugar’s vast works during the maintenance period. This resulted in an exhibition incorporating a sugar installation and film screening.  Following the residency I visited the Sugar Factory during the Campaign, when the sugar beet is brought in from the surrounding farms.

This led to the production of two films, Lemon Drizzle and Crystal Clear.

Lemon Drizzle combines industrial footage of the sugar refinery overlain by the intimate soundtrack of home baking, raising questions about sweetness, labour, and risk. Lemon Drizzle was selected for Ripples with New Media Art Space based in New York.

Crystal Clear was shown with The London Group in Small Wonders at Croyden Art Space and in the Annual 2025 at the RWS Gallery.
